The Sustainability Cup is a fun based sustainability
education program that poses real life challenges,
requiring real life solutions - all in real time.
Students become classroom “building managers” and are motivated to seek innovative solutions in reducing classroom resource usage. Success in the classroom is immediately reflected on the intra-school Sustainability Cup Scoreboard.
Resource usage, presented directly to students in real time, changes behaviour, stimulates innovation, creativity and engagement. The rapid feedback loop, coupled with the competitive nature of the program, has repeatedly demonstrated rapid and ongoing behavioural change and significant reductions in energy usage.
The Sustainability Cup has been developed by students at Swinburne University who believe a generational change is essential in countering the negative impacts of climate change. Coupled with this, spiralling resource costs are increasingly putting school operating budgets under continual pressure.
The Sustainability Cup is a program uniquely designed to tackle both of these crucial challenges.
